Former East Granby Resident Dies Skiing In Canada

A former East Granby resident was killed while skiing in British Columbia, Canada with friends on Jan. 6.

According his obituary, Adam M. Lawton, 30, died doing what he loved best.

"Ski mountaineering with close friends in remote and beautiful areas. Climbing and skiing were Adam's true passions," his obituary says.
Lawton grew up in East Granby and graduated from Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford in 1999, according to his obituary.

He was the Outdoor Experiential Education Manager at Gateway Academy in Salt Lake City, Utah - a therapeutic treatment facility for adolescent boys struggling with behavioral, developmental and a wide array of other issues.
